Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton is a British racing driver who races in Formula One for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. A six-time Formula One World Champion, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport, and considered by some to be the greatest of all time. He was born in Stevenage, United Kingdom on the 7^th of January 1985 and is aged 35 years, his first win was the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix and currently races in 2020 for Mercedes. His height is 1.74 m, and weight 68 kg. Here are 11 things you didn’t know about Lewis

1. He’s Worth a Scorching £131 Million.

Lewis Hamilton is worth a swashbuckling 131 million pounds. Hamilton signed a three-year deal in 2015 to drive for Mercedes for 100 million pounds. Part of his contract stated he could take home 10 million pounds more annually in performance bonuses. In 2016 he won ten F1 races, though Rosberg narrowly edged him out for the World Championship. Because Hamilton is one of the most marketable drivers in F1 he boasts endorsement deals with big brands such as Monster Energy, Bose, Puma, MV Augusta Motorcycles, L’Oreal, IWC, and Bombardier Recreational Products. It’s understood that his combined earnings from each of these brands adds up to around 6 million pounds. Forbes ranks him as the 10th richest athlete in the world.

He was a professional race car driver at age 13. After catching the attention of McLaren Mercedes at the Mercedes Champions of the Future Series, Hamilton was signed on for the ‘Mercedes Drivers Development Support Programme’ in 1998 at the age of 13. That made him the youngest driver to have ever been contacted by a professional driving team.

Hamilton signed a £120 million three-year contract with Mercedes, just beating UFC’s Conor McGregor for the highest-paid British sportsman today. Hamilton’s deal comes out to £40 million a year, or £770,000 a week.

“Anything can happen any day, but I feel God has his hand over me,” Hamilton said in an interview with The Guardian. Raised in a devout Roman Catholic family, Hamilton has always been open about his devotion and faith. He’s said in several interviews that he believes his faith is an important part of his racing and career, especially given the high risk of the sport.

He was born on January 7, 1985 to Carmen and Anthony Hamilton. His father is black British of Grenada immigrants while his mother is white British.

9. He’s been making music, and has been a movie star

Lewis spends time in a music studio recording tracks. He said that he finds songwriting “a really good way of clearing your thoughts.” During a night out during Fashion Week in New York in September, he performed an R&B song for a packed house at a Club. Some people might not know that Lewis Hamilton has actually had a career in Hollywood as well, having voiced a character in the Disney Pixar movie, Cars 2, with Hamilton voicing the British representative in the World Grand Prix. Pixar clearly wanted to have a legitimate racing driver in the movie as a nod and a wink to the fans of F1, and Hamilton was more than happy to get involved, working alongside the likes of Michael Caine and Owen Wilson.

10.  The Queen of England schooled him on dining etiquette

Hamilton shared his experience of meeting the Queen of England on the Graham Norton Show: He was seated next to Her Majesty at a private lunch. “I was excited and started to talk to her, but she said, pointing to my left, ‘No, you speak that way first and I’ll speak this way and then I’ll come back to you,’” he explained.

11. His tattoos speak volumes

 “I love my ink,” Hamilton said in an interview where he exposed his tattoos. “They all have a meaning.” His latest tattoo of an eagle in September best expresses what we have become used to expecting from Hamilton. In an Instagram post he mentions: “My Eagle represents a visionary. I’m a seeker and I’m willing to push the limits of self-discovery and personal freedom. The eagle is a born leader and may become impatient with those who cannot fly as high or as fast.” Nothing describes Hamilton better.
